| Shorge K. Sato Associate
Shorge K. Sato is an associate in the Litigation group. He has substantial and broad litigation experience representing a broad range of clients in all phases of litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Shorge was Litigation Counsel and the senior-most construction and real estate litigation associate at Jenner & Block. Shorge has represented property owners, developers, property managers, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, bond agents and court-appointed receivers in a variety of matters involving litigation over title and possession to real estate, from eviction actions, mortgage foreclosures, specific performance, easement disputes and other real property issues. Shorge also has substantial construction litigation and counseling experience, from filing and litigating complex mechanic's lien claims to prosecuting and defending against construction payment, delay, defect and insurance claims.
In addition, Shorge has represented clients in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters in a range of roles, including criminal matters and "emergency" claims for preliminary relief such as TROs, injunctions, statutory prejudgment attachment and replevin. He has substantial experience in prosecuting, defending against, and conducting internal investigations of claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and fraudulent transfer, breach of contract, and business torts. His recent experience reflects litigation work arising from all aspects of the collapsed real estate market, from simple contract and statutory claims to investigating the financial, risk management, and accounting practices of major Wall Street financial institutions and their auditors.
Shorge's pre-litigation and trial practice is also informed by his substantial appellate and publication experience. He is also a frequent author on a wide range of legal topics; his representative publications include:
