Joseph R. Spillane
Of Counsel

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1990, Joe has gained valuable experience in public and private sector legal matters. Joe clerked for United States District Judge Robert B. Maloney, Northern District of Texas-Dallas Division, during the Savings and Loan crisis. Thereafter, Joe worked in the private sector handling real estate transactional matters, commercial litigation, and family law issues. For the past 12 years Joe has focused his practice on real estate matters including eminent domain litigation, zoning issues, and property tax matters. During his tenure with the City of Chicago, Joe coordinated the City’s property tax program and litigated the value of the City’s most valuable properties including Sears Tower, Merchandise Mart, AON Center, and other “Letter” properties. The property tax program saved the City’s taxpayers over $25 million in unnecessary property tax refunds and prevented the shift of more than $100 million in property taxes to the City’s residential property owners.
